Hospital History
The Emergency Animal Hospital of NW Austin (EAH) was founded by a group of eight local veterinarians recognizing the need for a separate, fully staffed emergency animal hospital in Austin Texas. In 1984, EAH became Austin’s foremost veterinary hospital devoted exclusively to emergency and critical care. In July 1997, the EAH became the first emergency and critical care hospital to expand its emergency services by opening their second facility in South Austin. The Emergency Animal Hospital of NW Austin is now housed in two regionally convenient state-of-the-art facilities, with over 19,000 square feet of combined workspace. Watch us grow!!! The current facilities feature large waiting areas, eight examination rooms, two surgical suites, two large treatment rooms, a 50 cage intensive care unit, isolation unit, ward with runs, imaging room, laboratory, family room, offices, conference room, break room and library. Today, the staff of over 40 consists of veterinarians, veterinary nurses, receptionists, and administration. All are devoted to the mission of the Emergency Animal Hospital - to provide a caring environment that treats people and animals with dignity, kindness and respect.
Our Phiosophy
Nearly 160 veterinarians and animal hospitals in Texas and throughout the Central Texas send critically injured and seriously ill patients to EAH. The Hospital treats over 18,000 pets each year. The Emergency Animal Hospital is a caring extension of the family veterinarian. EAH exists to meet the needs of pets and primary care veterinarians by offering after-hour and weekend emergency and critical care services 365-days a year. We work with your veterinarian to provide evening, weekend and holiday services or to assist in the treatment of seriously injured or ill animals. Our people make the difference!!
