Welcome the newest member of our Emergency Animal Hospital team: Dr. Stacy Simmonds. You can expect to see her working in the capacity of a veterinarian at our Austin-based emergency animal hospital, providing emergency care when your pet needs it.
Dr. Simmonds comes to us with extensive experience and qualifications in the field. She earned her DVM (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine) in 2007 from Texas A&M University. During her studies, Dr. Simmonds performed an internship at a New Jersey animal hospital and completed her residency in emergency and critical care at a Boston animal medical center.
In 2011, she achieved diplomat status from the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care. This status shows dedication and elite knowledge on her part, as the process to achieve diplomat status requires extensive education, testing and case review writing, and a tough application process.
After completing her veterinary education, Dr. Simmonds worked at the Dallas-based Center for Veterinary Specialty Care, which includes a variety of specialties, before coming to us at our Austin emergency animal hospital.
Dr. Simmonds was always interested in the medical field, working with humans before switching to animal care. She's no stranger to emergencies, working in the emergency department as a nurse. She thrives in an emergency environment, which allows her to work with a diverse group of patients.
Before going through school to become a vet, she also worked with drug development clinical trials. One of the cases she researched included a type of trauma in a dog. Her research was published in 2011 in the Journal of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care.
When she's not on the clock, you can find Dr. Simmonds traveling or engaging in hobbies like photography or sports. She loves spending time with her family, which includes her two dogs.
Please join us in welcoming Dr. Simmonds to our emergency animal hospital!
