Scott I. Johnson, DVM, DACVECC
Texas A&M University, Class of 1986

Dr. Johnson received his DVM from Texas A&M University in College Station in 1986.  He was hired by the Emergency Animal Hospital of NW Austin (EAHNWA) in 1987 as an associate veterinarian and became the owner and Chief of Staff of the hospital in 1991.  He owns and operates two emergency hospitals in Austin.  In 1999, Dr. Johnson became the co-founder and the president of the Texas Animal Blood Bank, a volunteer canine blood bank.  He was a member of the Open Heart Surgery Team at the Debake Institute of Comparative Cardiology and Cardiovascular Devices at Texas A&M Universtiy, responsible for anesthesia and critical care oversight.  After completing an alternate track residency, Dr. Johnson became a diplomat of the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care in 2006.  He is a member of AVMA, TVMA, VECCS, the Association of Veterinary Hematology and Transfusion Medicine, American Association of Blood Banks, and the Society of Critical Care Mediciine.  He enjoys mountain biking, scuba diving, and has three dogs, Lilly, Chia, and Midnight, and two cats, Bejou and Cowboy.  He has a son and a new a grand baby.


Jennifer Floyd, DVM
Texas A&M University, Class of 1994

Dr. Floyd graduated in 1990 from Duke University with an under-graduate degree in English.  She received her DVM from Texas A&M in 1994.  After graduation, Dr. Floyd worked in regular practice in Dallas for two years, until moving to Austin and joining the EAHNWA staff in 1996.  She met her husband at this hospital and they now have three children together.  They also have three cats and two dogs.

Beth Tawney, DVM
Texas A&M University, Class of 1994

Dr. Tawney graduated from Texas A&M veterinary school in 1994.  She worked at a mixed animal practice prior to joining the EAHNWA team in 1997.  Dr. Tawney enjoys ballroom dancing, hiking, and scuba diving, has two dogs, Charlie and Ruby and five cats, Jake, Lilly, Frankie, George and Phoebe.

Laura Chenault, DVM 
Texas A&M University, Class of 1992

Dr. Chenault is a graduate of the Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine, class of 1992.  After graduation, she moved to San Antonio and worked for the Texas Racing Committee.  She practiced in both regular and emergency veterinary medicine before she began working for the EAHNWA in 1996.  She has continued to stay invloved with spay/neuter clinics in the San Antonio area. She has two sons, a "slew" of horses, 12 cats, five dogs, goats, fish and a bearded dragon.

Karen Burns, DVM
Texas A&M University, Class of 1997

Dr. Burns graduated from Texas A&M school of veterinary medicine in 1997.  She worked in emergency medicine for a year before joining our staff in 1998.  Dr Burns is a cat lover and has a special place in her heart for injured opossums.

Melanie Fox, DVM
Texas A&M University, Class of 1997

Dr. Fox received her undergraduate degree from the University of Texas in 1989 and went on to Texas A&M University for her veterinary degree in 1997.  Dr.Fox enjoys hiking and has six dogs and three cats.

Jennifer DeRuyck, DVM
Texas A&M University, Class of 2000

Dr. DeRuyck graduated from the Texas A&M University school of veterinary medicine in 2000.  Emergency medicine was her calling so she started working at the EAHNWA soon after graduation in 2000.  Dr. DeRuyck and her husband have three children, two dogs and one cat.

David Kleiman, DVM 
Louisiana State University, Class of 1997

Dr.Kleiman graduated from Louisiana State University veterinary school in 1997.  After working in Los Vegas for several years, Dr. Kleiman joined the EAHNWA staff in 2001.  He has three dogs and five cats.

John Rae, DVM 
Tufts University, Class of 1983

Dr. Rae received his degree in biology from the University of Massachusetts at Boston in 1979.  He attended Tufts University in Massachusetts and received his veterinary medicine degree in 1983.  He practiced veterinary medicine in the Boston area, on Nantucket Island, and on the east end of Long Island in New York for over 20 years.  Dr. Rae joined the EAHNWA staff in 2002.  He enjoys golf, bicycling, photography, woodworking and spending time with his family.  Dr. Rae and his wife have two boys, two dogs named Robin and Max and one cat named Sweetie Bones.


Reagan Wilson, DVM
Auburn University, Class of 2003

Dr. Wilson attended Auburn University, graduating with a BS in 2000 and went on to veterinary school, graduating in 2003.  She worked at small animal practices in New Orleans and Mississippi for three years before joining the EAHNWA staff in 2006.  She has two cats, Ojos and Shelby, and one dog named Mingus.

Bartley Harrison, DVM
Texas A&M University, Class of 2006

Dr. Harrison attended Texas A&M University for his undergrad studies and his veterinary degree.  After working in small animal practices as an undergrad, Dr. Harrison came to the EAHNWA in 2006.  He likes cooking, computers, and music and has two pets, Ooch and Dort.

Sarah Crawford, DVM
Ross University, Class of 2007

Dr. Crawford was born and raised in Austin, Texas.  She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Dallas in Irving, Texas in Psychology with a concentration in Theology.  Dr. Crawford attended Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in St. Kitts, West Indies, clinical year done at Texas A&M University.  She graduated in 2007 and joined the EAHNWA staff in the same year.

Amanda Rhyne, DVM
Texas A&M University, Class of 2007
Magna Cum Laude

Dr. Rhyne graduated from Texas A&M University in 2007 Magna Cum Laude and joined the EAHNWA staff shortly afterwards.  Dr. Rhyne started working at our hospital when she was 18 years old, first as a receptionist and then as a veterinary technician.  After graduating she returned to practice in 2007.  Dr. Rhyne has three cats, three dogs, and four frogs.  Batman (black DSH) was adopted from our hospital in 2001after being abandoned by his owners.  Mocha is a seal point Siamese cross that was rescued from her neighborhood in Caldwell in 2001.  Texas, an orange tabby, followed Chigger and Dr. Rhyne home from a walk in 2004.  Chigger is a Chihuahua rescued from the Caldwell Veterinary Clinic in 2002.  She was four months old and fit in the palm of your hand.   She is a beautiful chocolate lab that is a great dove hunter.  Dixie, a recently adopted lab mix was adopted from the hospital in 2008.  The four frogs were from her neices' science project.  They moved to El Paso and the frogs had to stay.  Dr. Rhyne enjoys reading and playing with her pets in her spare time.  


Staci Cox, DVM
University of Georgia, Class of 2007 
Magna Cum Laude

Dr. Cox received her bachelor of science from Georgia Tech in 2000 - Summa Cum Laude.  Prior to veterinary school, Dr. Cox worked at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as a Research Fellow studying the rabies virus.  She later attended the University of Georgia, receiving her veterinary degree in 2007 - Magna Cum Laude, and was a member of the Phi Zeta Honor Society.  She joined our team in 2008 after completing an internship at Texas A&M University.  Dr. Cox loves the outdoors, traveling and cooking.  She has two dogs, Otto and Caesar, and two cats, Strormi and Max.


Stephanie Fletcher, DVM
Ohio State University, Class of 2008

Dr. Fletcher started working in a veterinary practice at the age of 15 and has worked in the veterinary field ever since.  She attended Texas A&M from 1995 to 1996, the University of Colorado at Boulder from 1996 to 1997, receiving her oceanography degree from the University of San Diego in 2oo1.  She spent a summer in Guadalajara to study Spanish and Mexican art.  Her research focus was the diet and ecological niche of deep sea Macourid fish and her senior thesis was on possible sea turtle hibernation.  Dr. Fletcher received a second bachelor's degree in Biology from Arizona State University in 2002.  From 2001 to 2004, she worked as an emergency and internal technician at Mesa Veterinary Hospital in Arizona.  She participated in a herpetological survey in the coastal forest of Ecuador, describing and cataloging the areas' reptiles and amphibians.  She received her DVM from the Ohio State University in 2008 where she received the Gertrude Hoeger award for biomedical research for her work on the HER-2 marker in feline vaccine-related fibrosarcomas.  Dr. Fletcher began practicing at the EAHNWA in 2008.  She lives with her eight year old dog, Gulliver, her eighteen year old cat, Rum-Tum-Tuggers, seven year old collared lizard, Mr. Auriceps, and six different species of fish.  She enjoys swimming, gardening, reading, climbing, and almost any outdoor activity.


 Nicole Saucedo, DVM
Kansas State University, Class of 2010 
Magna Cum Laude

Dr. Saucedo attended Texas A&M University where she received her BS in Biomedical Science in 2001.  She then moved to Austin where she joined our hospital as a veterinary technician until she left for veterinary school in 2006.  Dr. Saucedo graduated from Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine Magna Cum Laude in 2010, moved back to Austin, and rejoined our hospital team as a veterinarian.  Dr. Saucedo and her husband have 2 dogs, a blue heeler named Dingo and a mixed breed dog named Ancho that they adopted from Town Lake Animal Center.
